A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
